BioQuest Studios

BioQuest Studios is a media production company located on the doorstep to the Great Barrier Reef—Port Douglas, Australia.

BioQuest was founded by a team of highly skilled people with a unique blend of extensive production experience, high quality image standards, and in-depth scientific knowledge of subjects and phenomena.

“We use the most advanced technologies and explore the most challenging topics in the underwater filmmaking and photography. Our unique studio provides specialized cinematography in a controlled environment independent of weather and sea conditions. With precision motorization equipment we can approach the smallest objects end employ complex filming techniques nearly impossible to achieve in the field.” Says, Pete West.

The current trends in the media industry are exceptionally resolution and colour-depth hungry. Our in-depth knowledge of the digital media, biology, and optics guarantees out-of-this world images that can satisfy even the needs of the bleeding edge display technologies.

BioQuest Studios is proud to be mission partner of the Tara Pacific Expedition 2016-2018, providing underwater filming and image acquisition.

The expedition focuses on the biodiversity of coral reefs in the Pacific Ocean and their adaptation to man-made climate change. The interdisciplinary team of scientist is crossing the Pacific region from east to west, following an increasing gradient of biodiversity to the “Coral Triangle” zone, considered a “hot spot” of biodiversity. The schooner (Tara) is traversing 11 time zones of the world’s largest ocean, and visits the most remote islands and reefs.

The main objective of the research project is to understand the evolution of coral reefs in the context of climate and demographic changes farmbrazil.com.br.

A museum installation that utilizes the following:

  • A 360° screen that features Toni’s underwater concert, content fromBioQuest Studios, the Tara Expedition and other expeditions.
  • Two stand alone LED Screen Cubes: one, feature a healthy reef; the second a bleached/dead reef.

Installation Content

The content for the underwater installation includes Toni Childs’ 360 Underwater Concert, and real time content from vetted NGOs around the planet: Tara Expedition, Greening Australia, and the ICUN Red List. In addition to content from award winning Australian underwater camera crew NUMA and Bio Quest Studios presently working with the Tara Expedition.

The online educational portal will be hosted by Citizens of the Planet.us which is part of Toni’s music driven traveling contemporary art experience. This installation would be the first step in fulfilling Toni’s dream to demonstrate to international NGOs that working together to with the intention to repair, restore and clean up some of our greatest environmental challenges is in fact possible.

Using Mapify and Google Maps technology – we will create a living and ever evolving interactive map of the world’s reef systems branded to a high-end contemporary design specification yet easy to use. The Citizens of the Planet Ocean’s Team will input the Tara Expedition, Greening Australia, and ICUN scientists latest findings regarding reef health and restoration opportunities on planet earth into the map. This will allow museum goers, educators and online communities the opportunity to learn in real time:

  • The state of each reef.
  • The scientists monitoring each reef system and where they can access their research.
  • Research teams currently working on a particularly reef.
  • NGOs working to restore reef systems.
  • If a reef system needs restoration, what plans are currently on the table and what is needed.
  • Restorative methods that are working.
  • Methods that don’t work.
  • Vetted NGO Repair initiatives and estimated amounts needed.
  • What factors contribute to Coral Bleaching.
  • Current solutions on the table to restore the reefs.
  • What people can do immediately to reduce to cool the planet and support reef restoration.
  • Lists of ways elementary through high schools can engage with scientists and adopt a reef system encouraging environmental activism at a young age.
